Zapp is claimed to include everything brands need to prototype, develop and manage direct-to-consumer apps across phones, tablets and connected TV devices. The service provider believes that by using Applicaster’s Zapp SaaS app management platform, and with its relationship with Accenture, in addition to integrations with Google, Microsoft and Kaltura among others, it will be able to quickly develop the app, implement future changes and efficiently launch the app in-market.
The partnership with Applicaster will focus on updating the ZEE5 app interface to mirror the evolving preferences of the latest generation of OTT viewers. It has crossed 70 million gross downloads since launch on the Play Store and had 76.4 million global monthly active users globally as of June 2019. Over 2019 ZEE5 has rolled out 25 original shows and is committed to launching 72 or more shows by March 2020. The service’s content library comprises over 3500 films, 500 TV shows, 4000 music videos, 35 plays and 90 live TV channels across 12 languages and is available online as a Progressive Web App (PWA), and on Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV Stick.
